According to media sources, including the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, on February 16, 2009 the Islamic Council of Norway denounced as “unacceptable” recent statements made by prominent Sunni Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi on Al-Jazeera TV, that the Holocaust was “divine punishment” and that he hopes that Muslims will carry out a second Holocaust against the Jews.
